Since starting out at the age of nine learning murder ballads and other old folk tunes from an Irish Catholic nun in western New South Wales, Davey Bob Ramsey has been performing for more than twenty years as a singer-songwriter, highly sought-after guitarist, and, more recently, a banjo picker. Cutting his teeth in the Newcastle art and music scene of the nineties (he played electric guitar with The Hanged Man), the twenty-first century saw Davey Bob return to his ancestral home in the Northern Rivers, New South Wales.
Davey Bob has been heavily involved in environmental campaigns, including keeping coal seam gas out of the Northern Rivers. He tells us:
I support Divestment because I believe there is no future in further fooling with fossil fuels.
